Acreage
397.63 acres with 3,301 feet of saltwater shoreline.

Acquired
The park was acquired in four parcels; the first in 1958 and the last in 1981, for a total cost of $610,320.

Historical Background
In the mid 1800s, three survey expeditions, two U.S. and one British, explored and charted the Commencement Bay area. In 1877, U.S.N. Lt. Cutts led a second survey expedition and it was this chart where the names Point Brown and Dash Point appeared. The name Dash Point is still unclear as to its derivation. Perhaps named after the men or ships from either the 1846 British Expedition or the 1877 U.S. Expedition.

There are 5 comfort stations, 71 picnic tables, one fire pit, 7.4 miles of trails and a trailer dump station, 2 covered shelters (1 at the beach - 1 at picnic area).
